JAy Asher
Authors Life and Purpose
Jay Asher is born in Arcadia, California on September 30, 1975. When Jay Asher was a kid his family helped pursue his interests like playing guitar and writing. After that he headed off to Cuesta Community College after he graduated from high school. As he was at school he wrote his first two children books for a class in college. Throughout his college life he was changing his career and finding out what he wants to do. After some really good thinking he finally found out what he wanted and he dropped everything and pursued to be a series writer and he also got married too. He got married to Joan Marie on September 7, 2002. The way Jay Asher wrote his books came from real life experiences, that's why his books are so good.
Jay Asher's purpose for writing this book was because he wanted to let people know that it is not right to blame people for committing suicide. Also that certain actions can really affect a persons emotions and lifestyle. Also, before he started writing this book his relative tried to commit suicide but thank goodness she didn't commit to it. So, ever since that happened hes been going with his relative to talk about her issues and with that he started coming up with ideas to start this book.

Jay Asher Compares to Clay
When Jay Asher wrote this book I think he put himself as Clay Jensen because Jay Asher was a bystander and he might have felt guilty for not being able to help his relative, like how Clay didn't help Hannah. In the book Thirteen Reasons Why? it tells us that Clay knew Hannah Baker but never really got to know her and that tells us that Jay Asher didn't really have a chance to get to know his relative or try to help her. The whole book corresponds to his relative when she was in high school Junior and she tried to commit suicide. Jay Asher is like Clay because Clay didn't know what to do or what to think when he saw that box and Jay Asher didn't know what to do when he found out about the news until he came up with a great idea to help other teens.
